Hello Laura,
I am grieving the loss of my dog who was with me for 13 years. I was not present with him at the time that he passed on. I feel I abandoned him when he needed me the most. I have been having a deep sense of guilt. I want to try and contact him and know how he is doing and if he has forgiven me. Can you help me?
Rachna

Hello Rachna,

Yes, I can help. I know it is hard to lose a member of your family (whether they had four legs or two). There is nothing to keep feeling guilty about. You did the best you could then. When an animal prepares to leave their body, like us, they are never alone. They are greeted and embraced by angels, guides, spirits and more. Animals have a great deal of intuition and connection with The Other Side. Many times they prefer to cross over when we are not with them so that we are not burdened with their parting and they will not be so torn about leaving. Wild animals often go off by themselves away from their kin to pass in private.

Our companion pets are very aware of our emotional state and hate to burden us with stress (which they work to lesson for us in our daily lives). Your dog would never be mad at you over this or hold a grudge. Instead he is skipping through the meadow on The Other Side that all pets cross over into. He looks alive, robust, and full of life! Watch and listen for him…the sound of his paws in your house, a glimpse out of the corner of your eye. His spirit urging you outside to enjoy the day (he walks with you still!). And, he’ll likely come in one of your dreams too. Big hug to you Rachna.
